Strengthening Network Resilience in an Eastern Region
Overview
Reliable connectivity in one of the eastern regions depended on a single fiber route. Any cut or failure on that path could interrupt services across the area, leaving the network without a transmission backup. This dependency created a clear continuity risk for the customer and end users. Qast identified the single point of failure and worked with the customer teams to develop a practical protection plan. The priority was to add resilience without compromising the existing service environment.
Solution
Qast implemented a new protected point-to-point connection that created an alternative transmission route for the region. The design allows services to use another available path when the primary fiber route becomes unavailable, reducing dependency on a single fiber path and strengthening the overall resilience of the network. Delivery required close coordination across technical and operations teams. Together, they aligned the approach, completed the implementation, verified the service paths, and confirmed successful activation.
Results
Services in the region now have an alternative protected route, reducing dependency on a single fiber path and giving operations teams greater flexibility to maintain and restore connectivity during network disruptions.
